Exploratory Learning Environments (ELE) do not direct students towards some predefined cognitive state, rather create they stimulating environments to contextualise learning outcomes enabling students to be active participants in the process.

Learning is a natural process and when situated in a place that challenges, provides intervention and offers feedback, and which supports learning, enables learners to broaden their understanding, become critical, informed and competent in creating their own realities.

Strategies to promote learning 'by doing' as one of the most specific approaches in learning theories by Dewey, Vygotsky, Piaget, Bruner, Kant, Rousseau, Socrates, Freire, Giroux and Luke.
